REGRESAR

20 YEARS OF A NATIONAL STATE POLICY

Twenty years ago, by means of Law Nº 24.815, the National Commission on the Outer Limit of the Continental Shelf (COPLA), was created. COPLA is the State body which delineated the outer limit of our continental shelf, that is to say: the most extensive limit of our country.

In the months of March 2016 and 2017, after receiving positive recommendations from the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf – a body created by UNCLOS, based in the United Nations, whose function is to consider and qualify the submissions made by countries concerning the outer limits of the continental shelf –our rights were reaffirmed for the purposes of exploring and exploiting the living and non-living natural resources of the continental shelf.
